Highly recommended, today’s budget-friendly 2005 En Tiempo Malbec really took us by surprise. This wine delivers so much - at such an affordable price that we sugest that you stock up. Fantastically food-friendly, juicy and approachable, this is a wine that any red wine lover will enjoy.
While this easy-drinking wine doesn’t take itself too seriously, it does have an elegant, serious side. With just the right amount of supple tannin and bright acids, this well-balanced, delicious wine is an easy choice for a fun or fine meal, or for entertaining that won’t break the bank. Stock up on this wonderful wine and keep some around for your richer Holiday foods.
Pair this palate-refreshing wine with a pot roast, grilled steak or a pepper seared pork loin.
Darkest garnet hues, with a darker, slightly opaque heart. At the edges, a ring of dark coral rings the wine. After spinning, the wine short, chubby legs move very slowly down the glass.
Dark and lush, with pronounced black cherry and woodsy spiced blackberry out in front. These are layered atop dark plum, smoky blueberry, cassis, hardwood bark, dried meats, raspberry jam and sweet spice.
Bright and sweet, with Bing cherry, raspberry and young strawberry in the lead. These are quickly followed by dried rose petals, blackberry juice, red plum skin, subtle sweet spice and a hint of white pepper.
Ultra long, led by sweet and tart red fruit flavors. These yield, very gradually, to sweet, dark, earthy spice, dried flower petals, flinty minerals and a lovely touch of white pepper that is felt along the gumline.

About the Winery
Our winery site on the banks of the Loire is not very old. Indeed, it only dates back to the 1960s. However, my ancestors were already producing wine in the Bordeaux region back in the mid 18th Century and my wife’s family were wine growers and merchants in Cognac at the end of the 19th Century.
We produce wine on over 145 hectares of land in the Vouvray, Amboise and Touraine AOC vineyards along the rivers Cher and Loire, home to the best Sauvignon wines. We apply the same selection criteria to all of our activities :
Selecting the best terroirs (soil types and local growing conditions). Cultivating the vines according to the principles of sustainable agriculture. Using the most up to date methods to convert the grapes into wine. Building a team of experienced oenologists equipped with the most modern technology. Bottling according to the best international quality standards.
Winemaker Francois Chainier
For me, the Loire was a case of love at first sight, with its vineyards and fresh, fruity wines: so easy to drink either young or venerably old: like the 1893 Vouvrays, still in perfect condition today. Today, the Maison Pierre Chainier is still a family business, based in Amboise, a royal town built on the banks of the River Loire. We are wine merchants, specialising in Touraine wines. Our average production is approximately 6 millions bottles (500,000 cases).
My wife Anne Chainier looks after the estates, the Château de Pocé and the Château de la Roche, in which she also raises thoroughbred French saddle horses, including Gloria de la Roche, a winner of major international competitions. My eldest son François is the managing director of the company. He also owns the prestigious Clos de Nouys and Clos du Gaimont vineyards in Vouvray.
Over the years, the entire Pierre Chainier team has acquired an impressive range of skills, which are needed for the creation of wines or the maturing of production from the vineyards. All of our expertise is devoted to our strategy of quality for Loire Valley wines.
