For our 2009 Sonoma Valley Sangiovese, we were fortunate to procure some amazing fruit from some exclusive vineyards in southern Sonoma County, among the rolling hills of Sonoma Valley, reminiscent of those in Tuscany. This wine is a tribute to our Italian culture, with a nod to the rich fruit provided by our Northern California geography and climate.

Enjoy the aromas of dark ripe fruit with black pepper and smoky, gamy notes. Savor the seductive, concentrated, extracted fruit – black cherries, blackberries and raspberries, balanced by a pronounced earthiness and perfumed floral essence with herbs and hints of vanilla and spice, followed by intense, mouth-filling, dark fruit and black currants with a long, lingering plum and berry finish.

Made in the ‘Super Tuscan’ style, we blended in some exclusive Sonoma County Bordeaux varietals to make this wine slightly bolder, while maintaining a juicy acidity, all of which combine to make it a versatile food wine. We would enjoy this with anything from hearty pasta dishes with red, meat-based sauce, to pizzas, poultry, pork, game, and beef, as well as berry or chocolate based desserts.

This wine is an homage to our Old World Italian roots with a look forward to our family and future here in Northern California, and once again, as always, una festa nella tua boca! Salute!
