Today’s Astrale e Terra 2007 Arcturus Napa Valley Red Wine is an incredible, delicious, elegant, and truly exciting wine. We absolutely love this incredible blend from our good friend Scott Harvey.
After a few years away, Astrale e Terra has come roaring back with the best wine that we have ever tasted from this fantastic winery. And that is really saying something, as Agent Red once declared one of Astrale’s Syrahs to be ‘the best I have ever tasted’.
With lofty aromas that leap from the glass, this wine gives heady clues to what is to come. On the palate, rich layers of flavor cascade to the far corners of the mouth, coating the palate along the way. The finish is extra long and very smooth as plush tannins settle in, spreading a gradual dryness across the palate.
If we’ve been shouting about stocking up on 2007 vintage reds from Northern California (96 Points, Robert Parker), we are screaming about this wonderful wine!
Deep and beautiful, opaque crimson. At the rim, the finest ring of ruby red glints in the light.
Chocolate covered blueberry and chocolate covered cherry, coffee bean, birch bark, cherry aperitif, with a subtle twiggy aroma at the very edge of perception.
Rich and bold with mixed berry compote, black currant, blackberry, bramble, dusted chocolate truffle, dark roast coffee bean and subtle sweet spice.
Flavors are long sustaining, as a very plush dryness very gradually spreads across the palate. At the very end, a very subtle hard cured bacon flavor persists at the edges.
We can’t imagine a better pairing than a bacon wrapped filet mignon, smothered with sauteed mushrooms.

Arcturus - The “star” of our production! :Arcturus is named for the 4th brightest star in the sky, a star astronomers classify as a Red Supergiant. This symbolic name was chosen because the Arcturus is considered the star of our production - our Red Supergiant! This powerful blend is comprised of the perfect amounts of Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet franc and Petite Verdot from our Estate Vineyard in the mountains of the Atlas Peak Appellation.
This wine opens with aromas of raspberry, cinnamon and chocolate covered cherries, while the palate displays flavors of bright red cherries, strawberries and mocha. With firm and elegant tannins and a long structured finish, this food wine pairs well with rich meat dishes including Beef Bourgogne or Braised Short Ribs.

About the Winery
Whether we were traveling abroad or eating at our favorite local restaurant, we enjoyed experiencing a diverse array of wines and determining our own criteria for what made a wine special.
For a long time owning a winery was just a dream, until the day we found the piece of land that we knew could be the home of a very special wine. We were driving up a peaceful, winding road in a small valley in northern California, 1,250 feet above the main valley floor and sheltered by stony, majestic hills. As we gazed at the cloudless azure sky and the softly rolling hills laced with grapevines, it felt as though we were in another world. We knew this was where our dreams of winemaking were going to be made a reality.
That day, we sensed two powerful forces at work: heaven and the earth. ‘Astrale e Terra’ is Italian for ‘heaven and earth,’ and with our interest in astronomy and archaeology, the name’s inspiration seemed only natural. We look forward to sharing the fruits of our labor of love with you!
Winemaker Scott Harvey
Scott Harvey ranks among California’s most celebrated and accomplished winemakers. He first came to the attention of wine lovers and the wine trade as winemaker at Santino and Renwood where he crafted wines from some of California’s oldest vineyards and helped put the Sierra Foothills on the winemaking map. In 1996 he partnered with Richard Peterson, PhD at Folie a Deux winery in Napa Valley. There the winemaking duo garnered a reputation for outstanding Napa Valley wines produced from estate fruit as well as from vineyards across the Valley.
After selling Folie a Deux in 2004, Harvey created a series of new brands that took advantage of his experience in both the Sierra Foothills and Napa Valley. One reason Scott chose to work with Astrale e Terra is his extreme admiration for Cabernet Sauvignon grown in the Atlas Peak appellation.
As Astrale e Terra’s Consulting Winemaker, Scott is charged with overseeing harvest, winemaking procedure and the blending of the various lots that Astrale e Terra bottles from the Atlas Peak and Napa Valley, Johnson Ranch vineyards.
