This wine is a wonderful, vibrant treat that shows a good balance between dark California fruit and a mellow earthiness. Bright aromas jump from the glass on opening. On the palate, the wine shows surprising complexity for a budget-minded wine.
This wine is best enjoyed after a some decanting. We recommend that you decant for at least 30 minutes. Unless you are like us, and you love to swirl and sip to see how the wine progresses in the glass.
This is a very solid wine for the price, especially given that the second bottle sells to you for just $0.07.
Dark red cherry juice hues at the heart, with glinting ruby edging.
Black cherry and black tea rush to greet you on the nose. These are soon followed by black plum, woodsy fall forest and subtle rolling tobacco.
Bold black cherry and dark plum skin meld with stewed cherry, dark red apple skin, blackberry, currant with dried leather and black tea leaf.
Long, clean and dark, with fruits fading to a softly leathery feel.
Pair this food-friendly wine with Moroccan spiced stew with purple carrots, lemon juice and almond slivers.
What the Winery Says
- Winemaker’s notes
- Fragrant aromas of ripe black cherries, sun-warmed roses and spices lead to the silky, bright flavors of this Pinot Noir.
Hints of tobacco from terroir and smoky incense from Hungarian and French oak barrels add complexity. Fine tannins and balanced acidity frame the red-berry flavors mid-palate and then enliven the vibrant finish.
This smooth, supple & easy-to-love wine marries with a broad range of foods, including grilled salmon or ahi tuna, herb-roasted chicken or pork loin, and lamb or beef kabobs with succulent mushrooms.
- Alcohol by volume
