This noble blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Aglianico is named in honor of our founding matriarch, Angela Seghesio, who directed the company from Prohibition until her death in 1957.

At Seghesio Family Vineyards’ centennial in 1995, wine industry icon Mario Perelli-Minetti toasted Angela and the “defiant” attitude with which she faced the industry’s challenges. That was the first time the Seghesios heard the word used to describe their family, and it has resonated ever since.

Vintage Notes Mother Nature challenged us in 2008 with a second year of drought, a freeze at bloom and high winds during fruit set that literally blew some of the crop off the vines. Prior to harvest, ten consecutive days over 100˚, followed by a dry lightning storm, set much of California ablaze and had grape growers on edge. Our yields were down by 30%, but we were relieved when they arrived to the crusher unscathed.
