Henry Siebert planted our family’s vines on the east side of the Russian River Valley when he was 80. One hillside vineyard was saved as best and last. His grandson (and Ancient Oak Cellars’ co-owner) Ken Moholt-Siebert helped plant it, as did Arnulfo Becerra, who continues to lovingly prune and tend the vines. The hillside “block 5″ at the Siebert Ranch is a very special vineyard, with a mix of characteristics over the spread of the hill providing richness and complexity. Planted with Pommard 4 clone, this vineyard produces wines of impressive structure and depth.

With savory fruit character, black cherry, dried mushroom, and earthiness, this is a Pinot Noir that we like to pair with our Siebert Ranch lamb (naturally!). Sometimes described as “a Cab-lover’s Pinot,” it can hold up to some pretty hearty meals.

Aged for more than 18 months in 100% French oak barrels, 35% new.
