Mission Codename Mondavi's Genius
Today’s featured wine is the dark, juicy and so very delicious Speedy Creek 2012 Knights Valley Zinfandel.
Speedy Creek taps into a historic vineyard for today’s gorgeous wine. Their vineyard, which neighbors Peter Michael (where $300 wines are born), was planted by Robert Mondavi himself.
Taste the history!
This wine is darkly juicy on the nose, balanced with earth and spice, delivering aromas of black cherry juice, raspberry, blackberry, and plum, with black tea leaf, sweet tobacco, baking spice, dusty bramble and toasted oak.
The wine bursts onto the palate, with flavors of bold black cherry, young blackberry, dried cherry, cranberry, young strawberry, dark toast, dried red rose petals, European black licorice, river rock and mixed spice.
Peter Michael is usually the only winery in Sonoma’s Knights Valley that wine drinkers recognize. After all, this remote, mountainous AVA contains fewer than 10 wineries!
Speedy Creek Vineyard remains a hidden gem to most, but it has gained the adoration and respect of wine critics - and Wine Spies - the world over!
This juicy, complex wine is the one of the finest Zins of the vintage. We know that you’ll love it, so please visit with us soon. Quantity is limited.
