Vigna del Gris is the “princess” of Conterno Fantino. It’s feminine and delicate, and the most accessible of the range, thanks also to its unparalleled intrigue, finesse and elegance. Located just 320 meters (1,050 feet) above sea level in the Ginestra district, the vineyards are south- and southeast-facing with a lighter sandy soil. The wines are opulent and refined. The oldest vines in the vineyard were planted in 1978.

Fermentation on the skins lasts seven to ten days with the temperature being carefully controlled at 82.4° F. The wine is aged in French oak for 24 months, with a further year in the bottle.

Though Conterno Fantino does not adhere strictly to biodynamics, or any similar philosophies, they do make use of some of the techniques; after all, they are nothing more than work methods used already in the past. In short, Conterno Fantino applies what they like to call: rational viticulture.

Deep garnet with ruby hues, with a rich bouquet of red and mature fruits with prevalence of red cherries. A superb but elegant, grand structure with the right amount of acidity. Wonderful with meat-based second courses and seasoned cheeses.
