Lagarde is pleased to introduce Primeras Vinas a collection of two red wines, each of which is the result of the work and time invested in a special vineyard, their age and treatment. Their production takes between 16 and 18 months in French oak barrels, with at least 12 months of stowage in a controlled environment, resulting in great potential that can be enjoyed for 10-15 years. Only 4,000-15,000 bottles are produced annually. Primeras Viñas Malbec is made with grapes from our centennial vineyards, planted in 1906 and 1930.
Manual harvesting. Hand Selection of clusters and grains. Cold maceration for 3 days. Fermentation with indigenous yeasts. During the first part of this stage daily reassembling and delestages are performed, then only reassembling. The total maceration time is 20 to 25 days at a maximum temperature of 30 ° -31 °. The end of maceration is determined by tasting. Depending on the vintage, the wine is aged between 16 to 18 months in 4,000 liter French oak vats.
The wine is intense red with violet reflections. The aroma is primarily floral, with mineral notes and the flavors are elegant, bold and with a medium to long finish. Aging in oak becomes unnoticed and perfectly balanced. Wonderful with grilled red meats, strong cheeses and pasta dishes with white sauces, tomato or trufles. It is also ideal to pair with stews, game dishes or vegetables, such as stuffed potatoes, baked pumpkins or peppers.
