2015 was early, light and of exceptional quality in Lake County. The season started with mild temperatures throughout fall that gave way to summer days that were warmer than 2014. However, the evenings cooled off and led to wines of both complex tannin structure and bright acidity. Overall the weather was nearly ideal, with conditions that allowed the grapes to have an exceptional hang time without being over-ripe.
Created exclusively for the J. Alexander’s Chairman’s Club by one of Foley Family Wine’s most awarded winemakers, and Vintner Bill Foley, this Cabernet Sauvignon features fruit from vineyards in Lake County that sit in the heart of Guenoc Valley. This special region is known for Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc. The Mayacamas Range runs through the region with the vines planted to high elevations. This creates dryer and warmer days, yet cooler nights, which extend the growing season to create wines of concentration.
Our 2015 Lake County Cabernet Sauvignon is aromatic with fruit forward notes of cherry, blackberry, raspberry and hints of spice on the nose. Dense and dark, it boasts a rich and round mouth-feel that entices the senses at first sip. Its concentrated, dark fruit flavors of dark cherry, and blackberry jam are complemented by soft, mature tannins. Spicy white pepper and hints of vanilla linger on the palate for a pleasant finish. The rich mouth-feel makes this wine pair well with red meats, and pastas with red sauces.
