Planted in 1869, the Original Grandpère Vineyard is claimed to be the oldest documented Zinfandel vineyard in America and still in production today. It’s one of the true icons of the California Shenandoah Valley AVA in Amador County. The dry-farmed head-trained vines planted in sandy soil yield only around 2 tons per acre of concentrated and delicate fruit.
“Spicy herbs and red fruit jam, but with nice acidity. Black tea flavors in the nose, beautiful integration between wine and oak. The refined tannin makes this elegant red wine a true representation of the Sierra Foothills.” - Philippe Melka
