The core of this blend is Petit Verdot from Rutherford and Petite Sirah from Oak Knoll, fleshed out with some Zinfandel, which contributed some grip and structure.
Warm conditions throughout Napa thrust vintners into harvest duties about two weeks earlier than normal. Grapes were harvested at peak ripeness on September 19th from our two vineyard sites in Rutherford and Oak Knoll. After a six-day cold soak, we inoculated for a lengthy and cool fermentation, helping to achieve color stability and extraction of fine tannins. Aged in 30% new French barrels for 30 months.
Opaque purplish-black color. Fragrant nose of black fruits, very floral. Mouthfeel is rich and smooth, with soft tannins. Flavors of plums, blackberries, dark cherries and espresso.
