Wightman Pinot Noirs strike a beautiful balance. Arising from the vineyards surrounding the locally famous Mayacama Country Club in the rugged hills of East Windsor. Even at the very edge of the Russian River Valley AVA, a unique area that gains some of its cooling influence from the Northern Sonoma Coast. This area produces some brilliant Pinot Noir fruit.

Vines are tended to a meager yield each year due to clonal selection, inter-vine competition, and aggressive vine-by-vine farming management. Night-harvested by hand in 2 passes16, hand-sorted, fully destemmed, no crushing. Fermented after a 7-day cold soak for 5-8-days in open-top bins. Daily punch-downs occurred with as many as four at the peak of fermentation. No racking prior to bottling unfined and unfiltered. Three distinct clonal co-ferments were carried out to enhance complexity.

What arrives in the glass is a full-throttle expression of mountain-side, Heritage-selection Pinot Noir flavors—a tendency toward black fruit, accented by streaks of forest floor, clove spice, and white flowers. It provides both depth and intensity, framed by a structure built to evolve for years in the cellar. A no-holds-barred Pinot Noir.
