Côte de Boont represents a selection of our two single-vineyard lots from the Anderson Valley. It is a highly restrained and detailed wine, which is faithful to the high elevation, cool climate hillside vineyards from where it comes from. Planted in 1992, Roma’s Vineyard sits at the highest AVA peak of 1850 feet on Lone Tree Ridge, overlooking the Anderson Valley. With direct exposure to the ocean breezes, Roma’s cool climate provides a long ripening season. It is always the last vineyard to pick. Owned by Dean and Suzi Carrell, a former bush pilot from Alaska, Dean organically farms the vineyard himself.
Golden Fleece Vineyard is located on two spurs 900 feet in elevation off of Indian Creek Road in Philo. The three blocks of 115, 667, and Calera Clones sit on steep slopes above the fog line. The impact of elevation can’t be overstated in mountain vineyards like Golden Fleece. Closer proximity to the sun, temperature, and meager soils are but a few of the elements unique to high elevation sites. Golden Fleece showcases an array of microclimates, which influence the complexity of the wine. Due to the steep slopes, our winegrower, Justin Miller, and his team do everything by hand. Farmed organically, Justin’s gentle approach helps minimize the carbon footprint and leads to higher quality fruit.
