Located less than a mile east of the hamlet of Occidental in Sonoma County, the W.E. Bottoms Vineyard is on an east-facing slope surrounded by Redwoods. This banana belt region of Western Sonoma County processes a growing season defined by warm, sunny days followed by cool, foggy evenings allowing for slow and even ripening. Planted to an extremely tight vine spacing of 4ft by 4ft the competition produces extremely small clusters and berries that yield a wine with a distinct flavor and silky texture.
The 2018 W.E. Bottoms Vineyard Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is showing beautiful notes of Raspberry, dark cherries, wet underbrush, brambly red fruits, clove, and allspice. The palate is bursting at the seams as the nose seamlessly transitions into a myriad of rolling flavors accompanied by silky tannins, bright acid, and a long spice-driven finish.
