It is a little cooler in the southern end of Napa Valley, and we benefit from this by being able to ripen the grapes slowly and evenly. Our 2017 vintage has produced wines that are opulent and velvety, with great layers and depth.

Our 2017 Reserve Cabernet was hand-picked, destemmed and hand-sorted, followed by fermentation in tank to dryness. Pumpovers were performed twice a day to extract tannins and flavors, then the juice was drained and gently pressed. The wine was aged for 30 months in oak barrels, 1/3 new French oak and 2/3 neutral barrels.

Aromas and flavors of rich, fruity red and black cherries and berries, honeycomb, vanilla and a hint of earthiness integrate with bold flavors of cinnamon and clove from the new oak. The mouthfeel is smooth, with silky tannins that give structure to the mid-palate, leaving a lingering finish. Drink now and decant a few hours to let the wine open or cellar it for 5-7 more years for greater complexity.
