Planted by the Bettinelli and Rodgers family, this 161-acre parcel sits on a 678-acre rocky outcropping overlooking from hundreds of feet in elevation, Oakville and Rutherford down on the valley floor. This incredible vineyard project created numerous parcels within a hillside. Our piece is on the site of the original homesteader from the late 19th century, John Lowrey. The ruins of Mr. Lowrey’s home is visible from the vineyard itself.
Lowrey is divided into six pieces called, in order, Valley View, Basalt Ledge, Orchard Side, Cellar Block, Homestead, and South View. Singularly one of the most beautiful vineyards we have ever seen, it produces Cabernets that are dense and compact, minerally and expressive, with depth, tension, and balance for long-age ability.
A sweet aroma of wild honey is followed by anise, red currant, and plum. A sip, black olive, and fresh fennel pollen greet you. The fresh, vibrant tannins are well balanced and finish easily on your palate.
