This wine is a blend of two vineyards. A fifty-year-old Graciano vineyard, the oldest in the denomination, is situated in San Adrian with sandy soil and round pebbles at an altitude of 370m. It has an unbeatable orientation to the sun and gives us concentrated mineral wines. The blend is complemented with grapes from Los Poyatos vineyard, another sunny site with 40-year-old vines giving us elegant, fresh concentrated wines.
When a winemaker loves the vines and enjoys looking for small plots with great grapes, they can make unequaled wines. Wines were carefully created by the 5th generation of the Manzanos family, from the legacy inherited from previous generations. Fermentation in 300 liters opens barrels with daily punching down. 15 days maceration with malolactic fermentation in new and two-year-old French barrels and then aged for 36 months. Racked every ten months and then fined in concrete tanks and bottles. Bottled after a light filtration, but not stabilized so there may be some harmless sediment in the bottle.
A deep ruby red with tile nuances. A brooding intensity of fresh fruit, chocolate, coffee, and mocha and aromas minty and understory. Long lingering with fresh lively acidity and well-integrated firm ripe tannins. Good potential for aging. Long and serious. Would pair well with BBQ meats, stews, game, and lamb dishes.
