The Middle Reach neighborhood is loosely defined by many as a narrow stretch of land that runs north-south along the Russian River’s banks between southern Healdsburg and Forestville. Known for its mix of sun and fog, the area promotes a long, well balanced growing season perfect for growing Pinot Noir. Vineyards in this region are generally hillside or rolling hillside estates.
3 vineyards, 2 wineries and 1 clone taking collaboration and terroir knowledge to a whole new level. Tolosa and Domaine de la Rivière have partnered to create a never-before wine from the single clone Pommard to showcase the diversity of Middle Reach neighborhood in the Russian River Valley. The vineyards named El Diablo, Starr Ridge and Vineyard Eleven are planted along the ridgeline dividing Eastside Road and Starr Road in distinctive soils ranging from riverbed gravel, sandy loam and volcanic clay. Each vineyard brings something valuable to the expression of the Pommard clone.
A collaboration barrel lot was a natural project for Winemakers Frederic Delivert (Tolosa) and Kale Anderson (Domaine de la Rivière) who share such similar philosophies. Both strive to pay homage to the terroir and create wines that connect with people.
This wine is a true representation of Russian River Valley, Middle Reach Pinot Noir, reflecting cherry, dark raspberry, dark plum, spice and lush tannins.
