The Morisoli Vineyard is located between Niebaum and Manley Lanes, at the base of Mt. Saint John and in the heart of the Rutherford Bench. This area has a worldwide reputation for growing great Cabernet Sauvignon. The light, dusty, gravely soil here produces grapes with vibrant flavor and impeccable balance. The resulting wines express equal parts power and finesse. An Elyse wine from this vineyard will have great longevity but is also very drinkable when released. Each year, since 1986, we produce a Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel from this very special place in Napa Valley. The 4% Merlot in the blend comes from the Hossfeld Vineyard.
Can a Cabernet have both finesse and power at the same time? If it’s made from the unique soil structure of Rutherford’s sought-after Morisoli Vineyard - then yes! Intense aromas of bright black cherry fruit intermingle with subtle hints of thyme, baking spice, and toasty pie crust. Firm velvety tannins and silky mouthfeel on the palate give structure to flavors of baker’s chocolate, roasted black plum, and Linzer torte. A bright lingering finish provides that classic counterpoint to power that is the hallmark of elegance!
