The 2015 vintage continued the trend begun the year before, of small, intensely concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon berries, again brought about by the state-wide drought that continued to play its part in shaping our lives and our wines. Some cool April rain also contributed to keeping our crop size down. Exceptionally warm summer days meant that the fruit ripened relatively early, and was able to be picked well before the rains. Alexander Valley, and Sei Querce, once again enjoyed a vintage of small quantity but extremely high quality.
You can tease out plenty of individual descriptors in this wine, but it is also a superb example of a wine that just comes together into a delightfully seamless whole. Black cherry, boysenberry, and pomegranate fruits are here, along with delicious notes of chocolate cake, vanilla, marzipan, and nutmeg, which all make for a silk-like, smooth and delicious wine. There are tannins on the finish, just enough to hold and age this wine beautifully. A classic Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
