The 2019 vintage was truly one for the record books. Following a very mild and cooler 2018 vintage, 2019 had all the right conditions in all the right places. A gradual increase in temperatures produced bud break at the normal time in March. No threatening storms in the summer to affect the fruit. Finally a beautifully warm fall for harvest which these berries were picked in the early morning hours to help preserve acidity. Truly a winemaker friendly vintage.
This 2019 Stagecoach vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon has all the right markers of a traditional Napa Cab. Opulent black and red fruit such as black plumb, raspberry, and red cassis. The oak gives subtle spices of cinnamon and baking spice with a touch of unsmoked pipe tobacco. On the palette this wine is bold and round. Typical lower acidity for the Napa valley and strong yet reserved tannins. Feel free to enjoy this now or hold for 10-15 years. This baby can handle it.
