The early 2019 growing season was defined by copious rainfall and late soil moisture. The long, warm summer saw few extreme heat spikes, with many foggy mornings setting the stage for vibrant and expressive flavors. A long, relatively mild finish to the season helped to preserve freshness and finesse in the fruit with abundant hang time. This brought out great color, structure, and soft tannins from the grapes. All in all, exceptional fruit, bright acidity, and ample texture for an amazing vintage.
This vintage’s weather and harvest, as well as our traditional small-batch winemaking techniques, allowed this wine to develop the structure and fruit characteristics we envisioned. You will taste a wine of finesse, complexity, and elegance.
Full and powerful nose, deep ruby/garnet color, this Cabernet Sauvignon drives anticipation. Vibrant aromas of cherry, red berries, vanilla, and gentle oak tantalize the nose. These senses are followed with a full and lush sense of sweetness on each sip carrying blackberry, cocoa, and earthy notes with a lasting finish. It is a sophisticated wine.
This mountain Cabernet Sauvignon is entirely from a single vineyard on the Western bench of Napa Valley at the foot of the Mayacamas mountains just south of the Mount Veeder and Yountville appellations. It features a forward red fruit character, balanced structure, and soft oak flavors. It has traditionally been paired with red meats, but it also enhances bolder flavors such as spicy foods, tomato sauces, curries, gorgonzola, and other cheeses.
Enjoy now or cellar it to develop over time. The excellent tannic and acid structure will allow this wine to cellar for up to 15 years. A wine of this caliber will benefit from decanting.
