A selection of fruit from east-facing ‘Prapò’ in Serralunga d’Alba. The Vico family purchased the plot in 1927. It is one of the best exposed eastern slopes in Serralunga; soils are primarily silt and clay.
The fruit is hand-harvested, destemmed, and fermented on indigenous yeasts in cement tanks. Aged in Fontainebleau French oak casks of 25HL capacity for 36 months. Aromas of red cherry, crushed strawberry, with notes of licorice, violet, and cocoa nib. Full-bodied, fine-grained tannins; structured with a long finish. Pairing suggestions are game meats or roasted lamb, and aged cheeses.
A cooler 2018 growing season yielded fresh, elegant Barolos, open-knit with vibrant acidity, light tannins and expressive fruit and floral flavors for earlier drinking.
