The Brunello di Montalcino Riserva by Villa Poggio Salvi is the result of research dedicated to obtaining a wine with an even greater structure than the Brunello di Montalcino Vintage. The ten months of further rest in the oak barrels give the wine even greater balance, developing more complex flavors and aromas tending towards tertiary, as well as increasing longevity, making it the flagship of the cellar’s products.

The 2017 vintage began with average temperatures but with little rainfall in the first part of the year. The vegetation started slightly early as the temperature at the end of March was rather mild. The common thread between spring and summer was the heat and dryness, with very high peaks in July and August. Following this, the vineyards located in the highest points of Montalcino benefited significantly from the cooler and windier nights. The harvest was carried out approximately 10 days earlier than the average of recent years. The harvest, however, produced smaller quantities of grapes but of great health and quality.

Brunello di Montalcino “Reserve” by Poggio Salvi di Montalcino is a more structured wine than Brunello di Montalcino “Annata”, resulting from a deep research work. Ten months of more aging in oak barrels give this wine even more balance, developing more complex taste and aromas with tertiary fragrances, increasing its ageing potential and making it the best product of our cellar. Intense ruby red with garnet tones. Ample and complex, notes of cherries, sweet tobacco, licorice, chocolate, and coffee. Sapid and full, with a distinct freshness, well structured, evolving tannins. Matches perfectly with red roasted meat, seasoned cheese, and truffles.
