Morisoli Vineyard consists of 53 contiguous acres on the famed Rutherford Bench in the Napa Valley. Gary Morisoli is the fourth generation of his family to grow grapes on this historic property, which has been family-farmed for over 100 years. Primarily Cabernet Sauvignon, the fruit from this vineyard is some of the most sought after in the Napa Valley. Surrounded by Staglin Family Vineyard, Scarecrow, Joseph Phelps Vineyards and Inglenook, Morisoli Vineyard fruit exhibits classic “Rutherford Dust” qualities and rich Cabernet Sauvignon character.

2018 began with abundant rainfall followed by a mild spring resulting a later bud break. Under ideal conditions, flowering occurred a little later than previous years yet created a beautiful fruit set. A typical Napa Valley sunny summer brought hot days and cool evenings allowing the grapes to accumulate complex flavors, deep color and delicate tannins.

After gentle destemming, the fruit soaked at 45° F for four days with two gentle pump overs a day. On day five, each tank was inoculated and warmed to 70° F to start fermentation. We completed three pump overs per day during active fermentation and one gentle pump over a day during post fermentation maceration for a total of 18 days. The wine was aged exclusively in French oak barrels for approximately 22 months. All new barrels were medium to mediumplus toast. Malolactic fermentation occurred in each barrel and racked twice during aging process to clarify the wine and eliminate lees.

A delicate yet rich red color fills the glass of Scattered Peaks Morisoli Vineyard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. The aroma of complex black cherry, cassis and vanillin fill the nose. Well balanced black currant, cherry cola and spice fill the palate then the wine finishes with luxurious and silky well integrated tannins, classic Rutherford Dust. Enjoy this beautiful cabernet sauvignon with a perfect New York strip, creamy spinach and a side of truffle fries, you won’t be disappointed.
