Every year we source from Maldonado Vineyard on Jameson Canyon Road, John Kongsgaard used to purchase a significant portion of this chard for his Napa Chard (not the judge). 150 cases made, Justin Harmon is the winemaker, lots of lees stirring, 30% new French oak. 100% Chardonnay, Old-Wente clone. Night harvested by hand, whole-cluster pressed direct to barrel, no settling for maximum lees contact. The Chardonnay is barrel fermented; 100% malolactic fermentation aged for 14 months in 30% new French oak, sur lie, battonage through first year. Minimal sulfur during barrel raising. Finished 2 months in stainless steel tank prior to bottling. Full rich nose of lemon meringue pie, ripe green figs, freshly picked nectarines and baking spices.
