Sourced from Kosta Browne’s original block… Gap’s Crown Vineyard has become one of the most iconic vineyards of the Sonoma Coast, consistently producing Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays of distinction. Located on the western slope of Sonoma Mountain known as the Petaluma Gap, this unique site allows for near-perfect ripening conditions with a combination of wind and fog that is almost always present.
The vineyard has a gentle slope and southwest-facing vines at elevations between 320 and 820 feet, exposing it to maritime influences. Careful planting ensures that most vines are above the fog line for even sunlight exposure during the final ripening stages. A lingering fog pocket near the vineyard at the end of the growing season enables the grapes to gradually achieve sugar and phenolic ripeness in harmony. Only 100-150 cases are produced annually.
