In 1983, Tony and Herta (HB) Peju purchased thirty acres of vines in the famed Rutherford district of Napa Valley. They worked hard to build a winery, plant estate vineyards and raise their family. PEJU remains family-owned with Tony and HB’s two daughters Ariana and Lisa guiding the business today. Ariana and Lisa are bringing fresh ideas while maintaining the meticulous focus on quality that began 40 years ago. With its landmark tower and warm hospitality, PEJU Winery is an integral part of the Napa Valley landscape.

Our Club PEJU exclusive wines pay homage to our esteemed legacy by featuring a cherished photograph of our property throughout the years. Captured by HB Peju, our Repose showcases the life-size bronze sculpture that graces our estate gardens. Created by artist Philip Dizick the sculpture depicts a nude woman reclining on her side peacefully dreaming. In her sleep space, past and present cease to exist and the meaning of her life is clearly seen.

February saw abundant rains, followed by lots of filtered light in spring and early summer. Both bud break and flowering occurred under ideal weather conditions, creating plentiful and even fruit set. Summer brought generous sun during the day and cooler marine influences, virtually uninterrupted by major heat spikes. The relatively mild summer followed by extended Fall sunshine and moderate heat created near-ideal conditions for fruit to accumulate flavor complexity.

2018 Repose is a captivating blend of Merlot and Petit Verdot that delivers a complex and satisfying tasting experience. The nose is filled with aromas of tobacco, leather, and cedar, which are complemented by hints of green peppercorn and dusty earth. Flavors of tart cherry and red fruit dominate the mid-palate, providing a rich and juicy core that is both delicious and satisfying. The wine showcases firm tannins and a bright, lively acidity that carries through to a long, smooth finish.
