Due to soils composed of “black earth” and “black gravel”, the plots of Moulin Riche offer the vine a unique ability to regulate the water supply to the plant throughout its vegetative cycle. This phenomenon helps to prevent water stress during summer droughts.

Here, the emblematic grape varieties of the Médoc; Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot flourish as well as Petit Verdot. The latter, being a late-ripening grape variety, takes full advantage of the heat reflected by the gravels. A variety with small berries, the Petit Verdot brings depth to the blend with a spicy edge and a touch of freshness. From this alliance, the gourmand character specific to the wines of Château Moulin Riche is born.
