Hétszőlő (“seven vineyards”) is one of the most historic sites in Tokaj, classified Premier Cru in 1772. The 55+ ha estate features volcanic/loess soils on south-facing slopes ideal for noble rot (botrytis), with vines averaging 20+ years old at high density.

2018 was rather a dry vintage, similar in style to 2015 where we had great fruitiness in our wines. The summer was very hot but we had some rain just in good time. Harvest for dry wines started extra early in August and were followed by an early sweet wine harvest. Although we had to make several selections we ended up having a nice quality and quantity of botrytised wines in 2018.

Shiny golden color, rich and oily texture. Fresh complex nose with apricots, citrus and some cantaloupe. Rich, full bodied palate with dried fruits, followed by a hint of orange peel and vanilla. The high sugar levels are balanced by the crisp acidity. The wine is concentrated and on the other hand thanks to the loess soil the wine has elegance and smoothness too.
