The French Camp vineyard rests in the rain shadow of Black Mountain in the southeastern corner of the Paso Robles AVA. Because of its proximity to the mountains and the drainage that comes from them, French Camp enjoys almost a 50-degree diurnal shift between the high temperatures of the day and the cool of the night. The smaller clusters and fewer overall clusters resulted in lower yields compared to previous years. This lower yieldoften leads to higher quality. When the vine’s resources are concentrated on a smaller number of berries, it can enhance the flavor profile of the fruit, creating a more intense And concentrated flavor experience.

The combination of jammy red and dark fruit flavors creates a rich luscious profile. The presence of leather, black pepper, and brown spice adds complexity and a touch of savory elements to the wine. Chalky tannins provide structure and texture, balancing out the fruitiness and adding a pleasant mouthfeel.

Harvested at night. This wine was then fermented with skins for 14 days. Aged 12 months with French oak. Expression of richness and power of Paso Robles AVA.
