If the estate were to produce only one wine, it would be this one. This climat expresses the complexity, finesse and elegance emblematic of the prestigious of Vosne-Romanée.

Domaine Benoît Chevallier’s 2022 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru “Les Beaux Monts” is crafted entirely from 100% Pinot Noir grown in a 33-are parcel on Comblanchian-type limestone soils. The vineyard, planted over 50 years ago, yields an average of 35 hL/ha. Grapes are hand-harvested with careful selection directly from the vine, particularly focusing on millerandage clusters. The winemaking process includes a pre-fermentative cold maceration and fermentation with native yeasts, with minimal extraction to preserve the elegance of the fruit. The wine is then aged for 18 months in oak barrels, 50% of which are new.

In the glass, the wine shows a limpid and brilliant ruby to red hue. Aromas combine fresh red berries and blueberries. On the palate, it is rich and complete from the first sip, striking a balance between freshness and generous texture, delicate tannins, and deep, sweet aromas. Over time, the wine evolves to reveal notes of plums and gingerbread. It pairs well with richly flavored poultry such as thrush, quail, duck, or pheasant in its youth, and with soft cow cheeses on wholemeal toast at its peak. Ideal cellaring is 6 to 15 years, and it should be served at 16–17°C.
