For several generations, Château Rieussec has been one of the leading Sauternes wines. Classified 1er Grand Cru in 1855, it artfully combines Sémillon, Sauvignon and Muscadelle. A vin de garde (for ageing,) it reveals itself and surprises at each stage of its development: If kept in a cool place once opened, it can be enjoyed for several weeks without altering and marries a thousand flavours from midday to midnight.

2009 was a warm, generous vintage in Sauternes with optimal conditions for concentration and noble rot; relatively high daytime temperatures and cool nights allowed slow ripening; harvest from mid-September to mid-October; a long period of barrel aging was needed to round off this very powerful wine.

The nose is fleshed out by ripe fruit, apricots, pears, and fleshy yellow peaches; lushness balanced by lime and lemon freshness, giving elegance and racy feel with Noble Rot spice; intensely sweet with deep texture, caramel, Seville orange, apricots, vanilla, sultanas; rich, opulent, viscous with honey, tropical fruit, and refreshing acidity.
