Great care is taken in planting, with every effort directed toward achieving the highest quality grapes. For this reason, the Marroneto vineyards are planted so that each plant has 3.6 square meters. This allows the Sangiovese vines, which thrive on the surface, to have the space to root well.

Vineyard management is based on a traditional, minimalist philosophy that incorporates practices and systems that respect the plants, treating the vines as little as possible and avoiding intensive production. Hence the practice of natural grassing, which allows for controlled vine vigor, with longer pollination times, and pruning in March, to give the plants the necessary time to rest. From the health of the vineyard, which is the priority, every single aspect must be addressed with the utmost attention; it cannot be corrected in the cellar. Everything starts with vineyard management in the early years, aimed at total respect for it.

The harvest is a crucial moment: the bunches of grapes are picked only when the stalks begin to turn a burnt color, indicating that the seeds have reached the right level of ripeness. The seeds, once properly ripe, provide the wine with vegetal tannins, essential for making the wine youthful, brilliant, and long-lived.

Vinification in 40-hl oak vats. After a day of rest, the destemmed must undergoes an initial pumping over for approximately 5 hours. Once spontaneous fermentation begins, further continuous pumping over takes place for 13-15 days. We do not use selected yeasts or nutritional salts in this process.

A classic Brunello, elegant yet structured, it is born from a vinification process designed to capture as much of the Sangiovese aromas as possible, and therefore also the typicality of the location. After months in wood, it remains fresh, fragrant, and fruity, and is not affected by the wood’s aggression.
