The Coastline Project is from our selection of organic vineyards along the West Sonoma Coast & Sonoma Coast AVAs. This wine is meant to capture the personality of the Sonoma Coast. The blend in 2023 comes from three organically farmed vineyards: Kings Ridge in Fort Ross-Seaview, Lucky Well in Occidental, and Flocchini in Petaluma Gap.
The 2023 growing season was one for the books - starting with cool, wet winter that provided the vines with deep moisture reserves. A moderate spring followed, keeping temperatures mild and delaying flowering until June along the coast. The vines thrived with strong growth from heavy winter rains, setting the stage for an exceptional vintage. By July warmer weather arrived gradually ripening the fruit while maintaining freshness and balance. Harvest began on September 5th, marking an extended season with ample hang time. The result? Wines that are concentrated, focused, and packed with intensity.
The fruit was harvested at night on September 21st and October 5th. We natively fermented with 25% whole cluster in stainless steel tanks. After 16 days on skins, we gently pressed and aged in 20% new French oak barrels. 12 months élevage in the cellar before bottling.
