Flora Marie Vineyard features Spreckels & huichica loam volcanic clay subsoils on a northwest-facing slope.
The 2019 growing season in the Middle Reach started wet and cool but finished warmer with less morning fog, leading to greater sun exposure. A March frost slowed budbreak, and May rain during flowering caused shatter, reducing yields by 15-20% but resulting in highly concentrated fruit of excellent quality. Conditions from June through harvest were ideal, yielding wines with fine acidity, concentrated fruit, vibrant color, and balanced elegance.
The 2019 Flora Marie displays aromas of white pear, honeysuckle, brioche and fresh flowers. The multi-layered palate contains fresh acidity, lemon zest, wet stone fruits, baking spices, and hints of melon and kiwi. The wine has a well-balanced structure with layers of minerality and elegance.
