The Sealift Vineyard is in the extreme and rugged Annapolis area of the “True Sonoma Coast”, just one mountain ridge away from the Pacific Ocean. This steeply sloped vineyard rests at an elevation between 700 – 1,200 feet. The soil is composed primarily of Goldridge sandy loam and ancient seashells, providing excellent drainage and vine vigor control. This unique Pinot Noir was sourced from four different blocks with varying elevations, exposures, microclimates and clonal material.

The 2022 growing season consisted of very minimal rainfall followed by a warm March that was suitable for budbreak. The cooler than average summer temperatures brought the grapes to optimal ripeness with harvest beginning at our Sealift Vineyard in early September. The year’s vintage is characterized by vibrant fruit expression, balanced acidity, and a notable sense of terroir. Meticulous vineyard management has yielded wines of exceptional quality and distinction.

Grapes were picked and sorted by hand and pressed at 20% whole cluster. Native fermentation took place in individual 2-ton batches in top open fermenters for about 10 days. Th¬e wine was aged in 30% new German and Austrian oak barriques for 12 months. A vintage of elegance and power, this Pinot Noir is grown thoughtfully in extreme conditions along the Sonoma Coast. On the palate, bright acidity is complemented with beautifully integrated tannins. The tannin and oak structure balance the bright cranberry and concentrated black cherry compote with a subtle finish of conifer and forest floor. A timeless wine that will age gracefully for the next decade and beyond.
