Pier Paolo Grasso founded his winery in 2000, though the family’s legacy in Barbaresco stretches back to 1878 when his grandfather Pietro acquired the first family vineyards. Born into a rural family, Pier Paolo developed a deep connection to the land from a young age, tending fields, vineyards, and animals. His perseverance over the years expanded both the vineyards and the cellar, and a transformation came when he met his wife Sara, who shared his passion for winemaking and brought a more delicate and natural approach to their vineyard practices.
The Tre Stelle bottling comes from a single cru in the eastern part of the Barbaresco DOCG, situated on a southwest-facing slope in the Tre Stelle MGA, with calcareous marl soils providing good drainage and moderate elevation. Grasso’s style emphasizes purity of fruit, long maceration, and aging in large neutral oak — firmly rooted in classic Langhe tradition.
