La Masía means The Farmhouse in Catalonia, Marimar Torres’ home region, where her family has grown grapes since the 16th century. The winery is designed to resemble a classic Catalan farmhouse to reflect the philosophy of producing wine as an extension of farming the vineyard. Named after the late patriarch of the Torres family, the Don Miguel Vineyard is located in the Green Valley — the coolest, foggiest region of the Russian River, only ten miles from the Pacific. Planted in the European-style high density of over 2,000 vines per acre, the yields are low and labor intensive; but the vines live longer and the grapes acquire better balance and greater concentration, as well as more elegance and finesse.

The grapes were harvested August 25 to September 13, hand-sorted, destemmed and fermented in small stainless steel tanks using indigenous yeast. The wine was aged in premium French oak barrels, 30% new, coopered by Remond, Rousseau and Marchive from the forests of Vosges and Bertranges. It was bottled, unfined and unfiltered, in August 2023.

Beautiful nose reminiscent of cherries and blueberries. On the palate it is soft and elegant, with silky tannins, smooth but rich, with a spicy note of cinnamon and a trace of orange peel. The long and round aftertaste, integrated tannins and the frame of elegant oak ensure a long life.
