The finest Rioja Alta vineyards are destined for the production of Imperial Gran Reserva, with plots located between 550 and 650 meters of altitude under Atlantic and continental climatic influence. The vines are bush trained and dry farmed on small plots of clay soils with areas of river pebbles, situated on gentle south-facing slopes. Imperial is an iconic wine produced only when harvests are classified as exceptional, and has been one of Spain’s finest wines since 1920.

Blackberry, cassis, coffee and charred aromas make for a smoky, healthy, and attractive bouquet. Dense and deep on the palate, with flavors of tea, herb, chocolate and baked blackberry ending with cocoa and herbal, earthy notes.

Bright ruby-red with powerful, oak-spiced aromas of candied cherry and raspberry, with suave vanilla, mocha and floral nuances and slow-building tobacco and leather elements. Pliant, palate-staining red fruit and floral flavors show impressive depth and heft, with a good lashing of sweet vanillin oak. Sweet and expansive on the gently tannic finish, which shows excellent clarity and length — a wine poised for a very long, graceful evolution.
