Gateway Vineyard sits within the Paso Robles Willow Creek District, a sub-appellation on the western side of the Paso Robles AVA that benefits from significant Pacific Ocean influence. The district is defined by varied topography and rolling hills, with thin topsoils over mountainous bedrock derived from marine sedimentary rocks, calcareous shale, and limestone. These conditions produce a cooler, longer growing season — harvests here typically occur two to three weeks later than the Paso Robles average — allowing grapes to develop rich flavors while retaining their natural freshness and acidity.

Pure, dark-fruited character with hints of chocolate, pine wood, licorice and nut shell. Full-bodied, very fine and polished with succulent black and blue fruit in the middle and lengthy acidity.
