Heintz Vineyard is located near the town of Occidental, tucked approximately seven miles from the Pacific Ocean and perched at roughly 1,000 feet elevation along the Sonoma Coast. The Heintz family has farmed this land for over 100 years, with Charlie Heintz working the vines since 1982. Ideal Goldridge soils and a cool coastal climate — warm days balanced with cool nights — have made this site a benchmark for California Chardonnay, with its grapes gracing the cellars of acclaimed producers such as Williams Selyem, DuMOL, and Littorai. Winemaker Kerith Overstreet secured a coveted allocation through a personal connection with the Heintz family.

2023 was a cool, late vintage on the Sonoma Coast, delivering a long growing season and extended hang time that winemaker Kerith Overstreet describes as ideal for concentration and structure. The wines were bottled in late July 2024. Overstreet notes the 2023s are as delicious as they are cellar-worthy, with intense flavor and the architecture to go the distance.

The 2023 Heintz Chardonnay is a testament to terroir and the long, cool growing season. The wine opens with a whiff of flinty matchstick that manifests as zingy minerality on the palate. Showcasing lemon curd, kaffir lime, and honeysuckle, it bounces with zippy brightness and is tightly wound with buzzing energy — structured for aging. - Kerith Overstreet, Winemaker
