Domaine Michel Sarrazin et Fils is situated in the quiet hamlet of Charnailles in the hills above Givry, 30km south of Beaune. The Sarrazin family have been making wine here for many generations — today Guy Sarrazin is in charge, supported by his brother Jean-Yves and sons Pierre and Jean-Baptiste. The brothers have gained a reputation for being meticulous stewards of their high-altitude vineyards around Givry, Mercurey and Maranges, crafting traditional wines that show a clarity of terroir not common in the region. The estate is HVE-3 certified.
The Givry Blanc “Les Grognots” is an elegant Chardonnay from Givry’s highest-altitude vineyard, presenting notes of ripe yellow fruits and pronounced minerality. Grapes are fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures to maintain aromatic vivacity, then matured on fine lees for several months. All wines from the domaine are bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Medium-bodied and silky, this pure Burgundian Chardonnay hails from the highest-altitude vineyard in Givry. Exotic tropical fruit and blossoms on the nose, both creamy and shimmering on the palate, finishing with citrus, white peach and minerals. Beautifully textured with great acid and balanced weight.
