Plaer is sourced from a blend of old-vine plots — 40 to 60 years of age — planted to the autochthonous varieties Samsó (Carignan) and Grenache across multiple sub-zones of the DOQ Priorat: El Molar, Bellmunt, Falset, Porrera, Poboleda, El Lloar, and Torroja del Priorat. All vineyards sit on the region’s signature llicorella (black slate) soils at elevations ranging from 300 to 650 metres, where extreme conditions — cold winters, hot and dry summers, and very poor, stony terrain — naturally limit yields to just 5–25 hl/ha and concentrate character in the fruit. The wine is certified organic by the CCPAE (Catalan Council of Organic Agricultural Production) and has been so since the 2017 harvest.

The 2022 Plaer offers beautifully intense aromas of ripe fruits, dark cherries, and liquorice, with rich scents of wild Mediterranean herbs and flowers, underscored by characteristic spicy and mineral hints drawn from the llicorella soils. On the palate it is warm and generous, full-bodied yet soft-textured, with fine, well-integrated tannins providing structure without weight.
