Faustini is the Napa Valley passion project of Anthony and Michelle Faustini, who left the tech world in 2005 to follow their dream of handcrafting outstanding wine from some of the most important vineyards in Napa. The 1023 Cabernet is inspired by a momentous family moment — the number has personal meaning to the Faustini family. Nearly all the fruit for this wine originates from the Crane Vineyard in St. Helena, with the winemaking team working closely with Kian Tavakoli — a UC Davis graduate who worked at Opus One and Clos du Val — to handcraft this ultra-small-batch wine of only a 100 or so cases.
The 1023 is intense and focused, highlighted by ripe blackberry, black cherry, plum, dark chocolate, and caramelized oak flavors. Made of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with a small percentage of Malbec.
