La Blanca vineyard is located at the Santa Inés estate in Isla de Maipo, Valle del Maipo — one of Chile’s most historic wine-growing areas. The vineyard was planted in 2009 at a density of 5,200 plants per hectare on alluvial soils under a temperate Mediterranean climate. The vines are part of the De Martino family’s ongoing dedication to rescuing and preserving Chile’s heritage white varietals, with Sémillon representing one of the oldest and most historically significant white grapes in the country.
La Blanca 2022 displays an intense aromatic range with notes of ripe citrus, green apple, and classic Sémillon honey notes accompanied by a mineral note of wet stones. On the palate it is intense and very broad, with abundant fruit concentration and silkiness, accompanied by marked acidity and a very persistent finish. A wine that can be enjoyed now but will undoubtedly improve greatly with cellaring. The 2022 harvest gives us an extraordinary La Blanca that will have no problem evolving over the next 15 to 20 years.
Oyster shells and sea urchin give character to the limey citrus. Some white almonds and raw cashews. Charming tension and texture on the palate, with a medium to full body and a pure, pleasantly saline finish. Bright acidity despite 100% malolactic fermentation. Very delicious and gastronomic.
