Hestan Vineyards is a picturesque estate located on Napa Valley’s remote eastern slopes in Gordon Valley — a former cattle ranch purchased by Stanley and Helen Cheng in 1996 and named for the couple themselves (“HE” for Helen, “STAN” for Stanley). The Meyer Vineyard is a specific block within the 110-acre Hestan Estate just below the Chengs’ home, named for Meyer Corporation — the largest distributor of cookware in the United States — of which Stanley Cheng serves as CEO. The vineyard is sustainably farmed, 100% solar powered, with well-drained soils and a microclimate averaging 30-degree diurnal swings each growing season. Thomas Rivers Brown joined Hestan’s winemaking team in 2009, and the Meyer Vineyard Cabernet has earned critical acclaim in every vintage since.
The lots for Meyer Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon are kept separate throughout winemaking to retain individual block and varietal characters. Small capacity fermentation tanks, carefully timed pump-overs and punch-downs, a mix of native and cultured yeasts, the finest French cooperage and extended aging result in a wine noted for its deep flavor and velvety tannins.
