Mission Briefing

Codename:

Three years, five months - and one night

Today’s Graziano Winery NV Saint Gregory Cuvee Alexandra Methode Traditionelle Brut is an exciting and superb sparkling wine, made in the tradition of the finest French Champagne houses.

This wine was crafted in the manner that is employed by top-tier Champagne producers like Krug and Bollinger, who spend the extra time and dollars to barrel ferment their Champagnes. The result is a smoother and more elegant bubbly that has far better complexity and a more intriguing character than many Brut Champagnes.

Brut bubbly can be somewhat bold - or even harsh - on the palate. Today’s small-production (215 total cases) wine is the most elegant Brut we have ever featured. And while it is elegant, it is so without sacrificing any of the freshness or energy we really want in a celebratory bubbly. This wine is smooth and delicious, from start to finish.

Tasting Profile

Look:

This gorgeous sparkler shows golden straw yellow hues at its heart. A constant cascade of tiny bubbles forms a fine layer of soft mousse at the top of the wine.

Smell:

Classic Brut Champagne aromas waft from the glass, with green apple, lime zest, orange blossom, and a slight leesiness.

Taste:

Fresh, yet elegant and refined, highlighted with flavors of Meyer lemon tart, freshly baked brioche, Granny Smith apple, and dried lemongrass. Flavors are sweet - with just enough tartness.

Finish:

With just a bite of acidity, this wine is incredibly soft and smooth on the palate. Flavors linger for a very long time.

Pairing:

A non-traditional pairing of Thai chicken soup, made with fresh ginger, coconut milk, and plenty of fresh lime and cilantro.
