The Phipps Family Cellars 2009 Treborce Vineyard Zinfandel is the newest release of our most popular wine as well as our only 100% varietal Zinfandel. PFC handcrafts its Zinfandels in a big & bold style like the great Cabernets of the Napa Valley. The fruit for this wine is sourced from the Treborce Vineyard that is perched at 800’ high atop the eastern hillside in Dry Creek Valley. The Treborce Vineyard produces “Classic Zinfandel” with a distinct core of blackberry, freshly ground white pepper, and a nose of dried herbs and flowers. This Zinfandel is further characterized by Spanish cherries, dark raspberry, and boysenberry fruit that mingle with vanilla, anise, cinnamon, dark chocolate, toasty oak, sweet coconut, and allspice.
94 Point Review - Wine Enthusiast Review (Previous Vintage) A beautiful Zinfandel that shows the elegant balance of a fine Cabernet Sauvignon, but with Zin’s exuberant personality. It’s powerful in wild blackberry, black raspberry, and mulberry fruit, with cola, mocha, and chamomile notes liberally accented with crushed black pepper, nutmeg, and cinnamon spice. Finishes complex, long, and absolutely dry. Really defines Dry Creek Zin at its best.
